With holiday dinners, ugly sweater get-togethers, and new year parties filling up December’s schedule, holiday gear begin to stock up in closets until the new year arrives.
Ugly holiday sweater parties have become the newest event in the past few years to have as a celebration to welcome December and holiday festivities. Holiday sweaters range from old fair-isle sweaters to fully-equipped sweatshirts with bells and lights attached. These traditional and must-have sweaters for the holidays began as a standard tradition for Christmas but soon expanded to other celebrations such as Chanukah and Kwanza - there are currently even sweaters available to join together various holidays. However, if you intend to go all out a holiday sweater opt for cardigans, socks, hats, and even pants covered in holiday symbols to make a lasting impression at your own ugly sweater get-togethers.
Aside from the amusing and humorous festive attire, a more sophisticated look would better fit any holiday dinners with friends or family this time of year. When looking for a casual fit, a simple tee-shirt dress with ankle boots could be suitable for a cozy dinner or a pair of jeans and a plain v-neck sweater over a printed collared-shirt for males. However, if you’re looking to get more dressed-up, a pair of tights with over-the- knee boots, a suede skirt, and thick cowl-neck sweater could make a statement at any holiday affair. For males, a formal holiday dinner would be the perfect setting to show off your dress pants and printed dress shirts or a simple dress shirt with a decorated bow-tie and holiday socks. To get daring, choose a burgundy or navy blue dress pants with a black, white, or maroon dress shirt on top with chelsea boots to match and complete your holiday attire.
To start off the new year with a kick, a new year’s outfit must be the most memorable outfit of the year. Aside from the glamour from metallics and sequins that encompass a new year’s outfit, many people have also taken into account adding new year superstitions into their own outfits for the night. Stemming from Brazil, wearing predominately white in looks are known to bring in peace and health in the upcoming year. White can easily be overbearing, however, so try to include wearing white through one statement peace or such as a crisp white pair of pants with a metallic silver top. For a more subtle outfit, wear white accessories such as a white bag, shoes, and necklaces along with any outfit. In addition to white, colors to wear on new year’s for good luck in 2017 include red, yellow, orange, purple, magenta, and pink. Although these colors can be rather loud and sometimes obnoxious to wear, opting out orange for rust can make a huge difference in your outfit and still bring “good luck” for new year’s if you’re superstitious for your upcoming year.
Overall, although these outfits can make the cut for any holiday festivities, any outfit that makes you feel confident and allows you to enjoy your holidays are the best outfits.
